Lellow

Yesterday I made some cookies.... ya know the ones on pinterest with just bananas and oatmeal? I also added chocolate chips because chocolate makes everything better.... and the recipe said I could.

Yuck!
I am not a fan. I don't like the consistency and they don't taste very good at all.

Gavin didn't seem to mind them.... I think it had something to do with the chocolate. Chris said he didn't not like them lol.

Oh and everything is "Lellow" This morning Gavin was eating some gummy bears... I know I have awesome parenting skills. Every gummy bear was "lellow" or "red lellow" or "geen lellow". Silly boy.

I've been super super busy with cub scout stuff this week.... and I hope our activity goes as planned.  There are so many forms that have to be filled out and so many things to keep track of. It's been a little crazy.

My foot has started to bother me. It's the same foot that I rolled last week. I wonder if I just went a little overboard running home from work Monday and Tuesday and things hadn't quite healed. It's hard to take days off from running sometimes. I feel so much better when I run (better mentally, physically, emotionally) but if I take too much time off it's hard to get going again.

I have read a whole lot about the whole VMA incident this past weekend. All I can say is the whole thing makes me sick. It makes me sick that a grown, married, father would dance and sing about those things. I had no idea what that song was about before... I didn't like it before and never really listened to it long enough to understand what he was saying. And it really makes me sick that a young woman would act like that for the whole world to see.

Annette Funnicello
I remember hearing that Annette Funicello who was a Mouseketeer back in the day and then later in teen beach movies was asked by Walt Disney to wear modest swimsuits and cover her belly button. Can you imagine any of today's Disney stars wearing a swimsuit that covers their belly button even on the Disney channel? I can't. I think it is so sad to see what in the beginning seems like a wholesome(ish) child star destroy their lives. There are so many of them. I don't know if it's because of the pressure from the world or the lack of direction and discipline from parents or why so many of these young people have made such horrible decisions. Lol I sound so old.

I just hope I can teach my children the right things so that these are not the people they look up to and want to emulate. I hope they can see there is a bigger and better purpose in life. I will fight for my children to learn the way to be truly happy in this life.

Bored...

Not much has been going on and I've been feeling kind of blah about things but figured I'd post an update anyway. ... and Josh says... well at least he used to say"bored" so Chris and I say it all the time.... hence the title of this post.

Last week I rolled my ankle running and pulled a muscle in my leg so I took almost a whole week off from running. Apparently I can only run on flat surfaces with no cracks or bumps or I injure myself ha ha. I saw an ecard yesterday that said something like... Dang I forgot to post my workout on fb now it doesn't count. I often post my runs on fb but to hopefully motivate myself and other people. I just know I'm going to push harder and go farther then I would if no one was going to see it. Now on the other hand, if I go for a run without my Nike + or my sport band doesn't work and it doesn't track on Nike's website then I feel like I ran for nothing. :)... And besides if someone doesn't want to see my updates they can hide me from their newsfeed or delete me.

I went running again yesterday and I love my new Sauconys. They felt great for my 5.5 mile run.

Gavin saluted the flag for the pledge of allegiance just like all of the other scouts at den meeting it was seriously the cutest thing. He loves having those boys come over.

Chris fixed my car and saved us like $200. I am still impressed he fixed it. I will admit I was a little worried when I found out he was taking things apart that my car wouldn't work at all and then we would have no working cars. His car is still broken and we're not sure what is wrong with it. Car problems are seriously the pits.... not really what I want to spend my time or money dealing with.

We went to a Cub Scout Pow Wow on Saturday. We learned a lot and had lots of fun. My favorite class was the woodwork class. We got to make a box and and catapult it was lots of fun. It kind of reminded me of how cub scout meetings should be. You accomplish things but you have lots of fun doing it.

Sunday we went to dinner at Mimi and Grandpa's house and Gavin spent the night. Being able to go on a date is nice sometimes but I sure do miss that little guy when he's not around. He's been having so much fun with Grandpa and Mimi I'm not sure how he's going to feel about coming home. I can't wait to see him!

And just a few extra pictures for fun...

Gavin loves wearing Brooklyn's helmet
Coloring with Daddy is a new favorite.
Love me some snuggles.

First Grade!

Brooklyn started first grade today. We are so excited for her! It's always a little sad that we don't get to be there for her first day of school but I'm sure she is doing great and her mom was nice enough to send us a picture. She is such a cute girl. I can't believe how fast she has grown.  Sometimes I forget she was still just a baby when I came into the picture.

Now she's six and going to school. I miss that little Booger but I love the big girl she is and the fun things we do together.

I saw a bunch of pictures on pinterest of people posting pictures of their kids with different things about them on their first day of school. I figure since I don't get to be there for her first day of school this is the next best thing to do.

Brooklyn loves purple, going to the movies and getting popcorn, Monster High (I am not a fan ha ha), Good Luck Charlie, Lala Loopsy, tomatoes and most vegetables, candy of any kind, dancing, playing soccer, playing "baseball", learning how to braid, arts and crafts, and she LOVES MAKEUP. We love our girly girl.

Good luck little Miss Brooklyn. We love you lots!

Whew... What A Week

So last week stared out like this....

And ended like this....

... and I'm still recovering.

Gavin was spending a couple days with Mimi after the weekend so she could watch him and get stuff done at her house. I don't know that she really got much done. He got sick and she ended up taking him to the doctor and then brought him home early. She said he would just say "Mommy Mommy" so sad. Asthma really stinks. Gavin is usually fine most of the time but the minute he gets a cold it's like he's been hit with a truck and he can't breath. It's not fun watching your baby work so hard just to breathe.

Why does he sleep with his eyes half open when he's sick? It's a little creepy lol.
He insisted I hold him or hold his hand... he had to make sure I didn't go anywhere.

When he has to work that hard to breathe he gets really sweaty.
He fell asleep on the floor on day two. He was starting to do better you can tell from this picture he wasn't quite as sweaty.
... speaking of baby I can't believe he's going to be two in less then two months. That means I've got to get going on this party planning. I have a few different ideas for birthdays. He loves so many things. Bike's and Motorcycles - both called bikles, Beedoe's - minions, balls, hockey, bayball, baket ball, coucolate... just lots of things.

We did do a few fun things in between sick kids. Wednesday we had our pizza party. We were bummed one of our scouts moved that earned his arrow of light and missed out on his pizza party.

Saturday after getting some things done around the house we went to Red Robin for lunch and then to Sephora to use my birthday gift card from Amy. Oh how I love makeup :)

If you sign up as a beauty insider with Sephora you get a free birthday gift.... um awesome!
We then hung out at Grandma and Grandpa Draudt's house for a while while Daddy and Uncle Matt went to Autozone to try to get the parts they thought they needed to fix Chris's car. They didn't have what they thought they needed... turns out the people at autozone thought they were looking for something they weren't..... fast forward to this week Chris replaced the things he thought were the problem and his car still isn't working. I am proud he replaced something on his car himself. Maybe this experience will help him become more car savvy :)

We also went to Scheels and got my birthday shoes from my parents. I got a certificate from Chris for my birthday to get some shoes but Scheels was having such a good sale on shoes that I basically got two pairs for the price of one. That means I can still get another pair of shoes... or maybe I'll just get some other running gear I'm in need of with the money I would have spent on those shoes from Chris.

Neither of these shoes were on my list of shoes that I wanted... funny... but I love them!
Gavin also tried on some hockey gear at Scheels. Chris is beyond excited for him to be old enough to play hockey.

When we got home Saturday night Brooklyn said she didn't feel good and that her tummy was hurting. She had some rice since we thought that would be easy on her tummy. She said she felt like she was going to throw up but didn't before she went to bed.

Brooklyn does this thing where when she gets up in the middle of the night she'll just stand next to your bed and with her super long hair it kind of reminds me of something from a scary movie... like the ring or something and it always gives me a heart attack. I was really worried she was going to throw up and then come stand by my bed and freak me out and I was more worried that my reaction would be not the best for a little girl that has just thrown up. So we stayed up with the tv on a little longer then I normally would have. As soon as I turned the tv off Chris asked if Brooklyn went into the bathroom and I said I didn't hear anything but sent him to go check on her. She was knocking on her door because she couldn't get it open. She had thrown up everywhere! It was disgusting. I didn't think she had that much food in her little body to throw up.

Chris cleaned up the bedroom and I gave Brooklyn a bath. Brooklyn was still half asleep when she got in the bath and was singing. Brooklyn hasn't ever had the stomach bug at our house so this was kind of new. After her bath I made her a bed in the hall. She slept through the night but was sick all the next day. I felt so bad she was sick and thankfully she is feeling better now..... and school started today!

I do have to say thanks to Brooklyn being sick my house is now cleaner then it's been in a long time :)

Saturday morning Brooklyn braided my hair. She did a great job.... and it always feels great to have someone play with your hair :)

Lagoon... It's What Fun Is

Friday... which was also my birthday started out with breakfast at Denny's. Chris was going to make me breakfast but we didn't have anything to make breakfast with haha. I also got a "Certificate" for a pair of running shoes.

Karen and Guenther (aka Grandma and Grandpa) took us all to Lagoon. It was such a fun day. The kids loved it and so did we!

We thought Brooklyn would be big enough to go on at least the white roller coaster but she was too short by one inch... I think she was a little disappointed. Hopefully she'll be able to go by next year. She loves the fast rides and thankfully there are lots of fun rides for middle age kids like her. Gavin loved all the rides too. There was this dragon ride we took the kids on and it goes really fast in a circle and I was a little worried after we got on it that Gavin wouldn't be okay but he loved it and wanted to get back on when we got off. I was quite surprised.

It was such a fun and exhausting day. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for taking us!

Gavin riding the "fishy"
All three munchkins on the whale ride.
I think even Brooklyn loved this ride.
I love the look on Brooklyn's face. :)

All smiles :D
Gavin rode the spaceship while Brooklyn and Eva rode the Ladybug ride.
Gavin "ready" with his hands in the air.

I wish these pictures weren't so dark... still cute though.
On the ship ride... once again Gavin is "ready"
Proof I was there :)
I was so worried he was going to smash his fingers... thankfully he was more interested in "driving and ringing the bell once the boats started moving.
I was telling Brooklyn I have a picture of her driving a boat when she was around Gavin's age too. So cute. I can't believe she was ever that little.
Grandma took the kids on the merry-go-round.
Dinner time.

I took Gavin on a few smaller rides while Daddy took Brooklyn on some of the bigger kid rides.
Trying to get a picture on the roller coaster is hard.
Love the employee photo bomb.
It was a fabulous way to spend my birthday!
