Chris's Birthday Extravaganza... Bum bum BUM!

Friday after I got off work I picked up the kids and we ran some errands. While we were out Brooklyn asked if she could get Chris a birthday present. I told her she could and she asked if she could get him anything she wanted and I told her no that she couldn't get anything that cost too much. She said she wanted to get Chris a watch. I told her no because they're too expensive. I told her that Daddy has been wanting a fun pair of socks with crazy colors and she decided she would be alright with that. After looking through the mens department and looking at the socks and t shirts and everything I decided that a certain watch she had seen would be in our price range so that is what we got. Brooklyn was so excited that she got daddy a watch and that she picked it out. She hid it under her bed and then tried to talk Chris into opening his presents every chance she got until he actually opened them at his birthday party on Sunday.

When we got home from running errands and put Gavin in bed for a nap Brooklyn and I got to work on a Birthday sign for Chris. Brooklyn was such a good helper and she is getting really good at coloring in the lines. Other then getting ready for birthday stuff our Friday was pretty boring.

Saturday we got up and got an early start on everything. We started the day with pancakes in bed for Chris and chocolate chip pancakes for the kids. After we got some cleaning up done we filled up the propane tank for the grill and got some lunch at one of Chris's favorite places Dickey's. It's a BBQ place and they have free ice cream which the kids love.

Saturday night we had our summer ward (church) party at the Classic Fun center. They have had the summer party there the last couple of years but this is the first time we've been able to make it. It was a blast! We got there and Chris and Brooklyn started out by roller skating. They both decided it was much harder then ice skating. After a few trips around the rink they were both ready to be done.

Who is this big girl? She is growing up too fast.
Getting up after she fell. I was impressed she did it all by herself.

Chris told me he learned a few things about being 30. He said that you're not immune to zits, the mad rollerblading skills he once had were gone and that going through a bouncy house obstacle course twice in a roll will just about kill him.

We played in the bouncy houses and the giant jungle gym. It was so fun to go in with the kids instead of just watching. It was such a fun activity. We stayed a lot longer then I thought we would. We'll definitely have to go there again.

Sunday morning we got up and got ready for church. When we got home I went a little crazy. I love making cakes and putting together parties for my family but it's so stressful at the same time. I'm always worried something isn't going to work out. Thankfully everything pretty much came together.

She was annoyed I made her stop eating her cake to take a picture haha.

We also had some help from family. A big thank you to everyone who brought something and to everyone who came and helped Chris celebrate the big
3-0!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Tuesday night Grandpa had some extra tickets to the Bees game. We had such a fun night. Gavin loved everything about the game. He loves the balls and the bats and Bumble and the fireworks... he loved it all.

The Bees actually played the team that is on the movie Parental Guidance (Chris pointed this out I wouldn't have even noticed). It was a pretty close game but the Bees won. One of the players we really like Kole Calhoun hit three home runs. Can you say... Awesome?!

Gavin had so much fun. For the first few innings when the players came in from the field they would throw out the balls they had been playing with to kids sitting close by. We held Gavin up and tried to get him a ball but didn't have any luck. Gavin was so cute. Every time the players would come in from the field whether they had been batting or playing in the field he would hold out his hands hoping to get a ball. He would even say "Ball ball ball ball" so I'm pretty sure he knew what he was doing. It was seriously so cute. There was a girl that was sitting in front of us who saw Gavin and gave him a ball one of the players gave her. It was seriously the sweetest thing. Gavin held on to that ball for the rest of the game and wouldn't put it down. I must admit I was a little worried he would throw it but he didn't... he held on the rest of the game.

Watching Bumble with the other kids.
Bumble
Bumble butt ha ha ha

Waving to bumble. He loved that bee!

After the game they had fireworks. The 24th of July is Pioneer Day in Utah and there are all sorts of celebrations for the holiday. We heard that the fireworks at the Bees game would be some of the best fireworks in the valley for the holiday. They were pretty awesome. Gavin is starting to like fireworks a little better but insists that someone hold his ears because they are so loud. He sat on Mimi's lap and didn't move at all the entire time. I think Mimi loved it too.

After the fireworks we stopped by the Fanzz store and got Gavin a hat. Chris has been wanting to get him a sports team hat for quite a while and so we decided to finally do it. While we were looking at hats Grandpa found a bat and baseball. Gavin loved it! Grandpa showed Gavin how to swing it... Gavin is a little preoccupied with hockey and everything is hockey and so everything gets swung like a hockey stick. Grandpa showed him how to swing the bat the right way and helped him remember it's baseball not hockey.

Gavin insisted he sleep with his bat the night of the game.
Gavin fell asleep on the way home but woke up wide awake when we got home. He was so cute and kept posing for pictures and then would come over to me to see the picture and then go right back to pose. I am so glad Brooklyn has finally rubbed off on him a little and he will occasionally let us take his picture. :)

Sometimes taking pictures of Gavin is hilarious.

Here are a few more pictures from our holiday. We didn't have a super exciting Pioneer day but we enjoyed it just the same.

Gavin was my running buddy in the morning. We went just over six miles and he only tried to climb out of his stroller once. I thought pushing him in the stroller would slow my pace down a lot but it surprisingly didn't affect it that much.
Fun at the craft store.
I think Gavin has wanted to use this thing more in the last two weeks then he ever did when he was a baby. He loves it!
Watching the neighbors do fireworks. We watched outside for a little bit but after getting showered with ash we decided to watch from inside. When we were watching outside Gavin insisted I cover his ears but then out of nowhere started laughing hysterically I still have no idea why he was laughing so hard. When we came inside he still wanted to watch but insisted I be right next to him.
