Amanda and I are both adopted... just in case you didn't already know. When Amanda was 16 or so my parents found her birth grandparents/family, the Hornbergers. They are the sweetest people. They have really gone out of their way to make Amanda feel like a part of their family... well, they've really done that with all of us. They have been in town for a family reunion and luckily we got the chance meet up with some of them for a quick visit while they were here.
We went to Nielson's Grove in Orem for a picnic (minus Amanda and David who weren't able to make it). Nielson's Grove has really become one of my favorite parks. It's nice and big with green grass, a little pond with lots of ducks, a playground with swings and little pavilions with picnic tables.
I do have to say, some of those ducks are crazy. There were a couple ducks that if they got in the pond the other ducks would attack. You can tell they have been attacked a lot because the feathers on the back of their necks have all been ripped off.... like I said crazy ducks.
"One of these things is not like the other".... someones dog decided to go for a swim. |
The kids fed the ducks in the pond, played tag, made spinners, necklaces and bracelets. They all had lots of fun. We sure wish they lived closer... we could use a good babysitter and some fun friends to play with! :)
Such cute girls. |
After they made their spinners they had contests to see who's spinner could spin the longest. So much fun. |
Gavin even got in on the action. |
Making jewelry. |
Thanks to Mimi for planning everything, bringing dinner and bringing all the fun
things for the kids to do. They had a blast!
and
Thank you Hornbergers for meeting us for a fun night at the park!
