We'll Be Loyal Scouts

Webelos has been going well. The boys have been working hard. I feel bad we missed the Pinewood Derby because of our adventure at the hospital with Gavin. The boys have worked on their Citizen pin, Fitness, Artist and now we're working on their Readyman pin. (I wish I would have taken pictures last night but I forgot... fail) I think the boys favorite part of yesterday's den meeting was probably when we learned how to make a stretcher (thanks to round table). You use a blanket and two sticks... we used hockey sticks because that's what we have around our house but there are lots of other things you could use. The boys had a great time taking turns making and carrying each other on the homemade stretcher.

Working hard on their collages.
I forgot to take a picture of them with their framed pictures but you can kind of see one of them in the bottom corner. They painted an outdoor scene and then painted a frame and after they dried they got to take them home.
Thank you to the parents who donated magazines for our projects!
Drawing profiles.
So glad I had my moms Cricut to cut out all the shapes for the mobiles.
This was at his pizza party for earning his arrow of light.

This is what happens when you win a game of Hey Hey.
Webelos are awesome!

Brave

My friends are so Brave... so so Brave.

They really amaze me.

My friend Donna starts chemo for breast cancer today and she was sweet enough to let me stop by for a super quick visit yesterday. I thought I was alright but I cried (of course I don't know why I didn't think I would). She is so brave and faithful and full of strength.

Brooklyn recently chopped off and donated her hair. I had told her about my friend that has cancer because we had talked to her about how she could donate her hair. When I told her that my friend was going to cut off her own hair to make a wig she told me "She can use my hair instead." I told her that was so sweet of her and I even started crying again. Brooklyn always thinks it's kind of funny when she makes me cry (crying good tears of love not the sad, hurt crying of course.) Chris told Brooklyn that my friend has lots of her own hair she can use for a wig and Brooklyn's response was "My hair is really soft." She has such a big heart and I think it means so much that she knows that her hair will make someone else happy to have such a soft beautiful wig.

I feel like right now I know so many people going through some amazingly tough times. I am in awe of their strength and bravery and I am so grateful for their examples in my life. I know that a lot of the strength they have comes from the Lord and I know we can turn to him and be lifted up and our burdens lightened.

As a side note... We went to City Creek and the Cheesecake factory for Amanda's birthday last night. Mmmm it was delicious (Thanks Grandpa). Some of the Christmas decorations are already up the kids had fun looking at the different Christmas boxes. If you live close by you should check it out. we'll definitely have to go again after thanksgiving and check out the Macy's windows.

A Whirlwind Update

Life has been crazy!

His smile melts me.

Gavin loves tattoos lol.
Two weeks ago on Wednesday I got a call letting me know that Gavin ate some mystery chocolate that may have had peanuts in it and he might be having an allergic reaction. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. I ran to get him and he didn't look too bad when I got there his face was a little puffy but he was still breathing alright so I gave him some Benadryl and decided to wait for a while. After a couple of minutes he threw up all over himself and all over me so I decided to take him home. On our drive home his breathing got increasingly worse so I decided to take him to instacare. Of course by the time we saw the doctor his breathing seemed a little better (which is not normal for asthma) but they still sent us straight to the emergency room. I've never been to the emergency room before and I had no idea what to expect. They checked Gavin in and the doctor took a look at him. He said that it sounded like he had an allergic reaction because his face was swollen and the fact that he threw up is a big sign of an allergic reaction. He said that it's possible because he threw up everything that he threw up the toxin that was causing the reaction and the Benadryl I gave him probably helped too. They kept him at the hospital for a couple of hours to monitor him to make sure nothing else was going to happen.

I think it was such a blessing that day that he threw everything up. I also think it was a blessing that I just so happened to have workout clothes with me and was able to change after Gavin threw up all over both of us.

Swollen face.

Watching Nemo

Gavin loved his hospital gown. He cried hysterically when we had to take it off when we were leaving. He also loved the band they put around his ankle with his name and "birday" on it and was upset when I cut it off that night.

I'm so grateful nothing more happened. I really don't think it was peanuts that caused this reaction... the last time was much much worse.

The weekend wasn't too exciting. We went to the mall where Brooklyn was very excited about playing at the tree house and told me "My friends there haven't seen me in a long time". It was so cute... I'm thinking she must think they live there or something.

Brooklyn also played with my hair and we put an elastic in Gavin's hair. Brooklyn thought he looked like the little girl from Despicable Me.

Monday we went to a Grizzlies hockey game. We love going to hockey games :)

By Wednesday Gavin was sick again with asthma cold crap. He threw up from coughing so much on the way to Grandma's house so I took him with me while I opened the branch before someone else could get there since it was kind of last minute thing that happened. Gavin laid on the ground so still the whole time he was there with me. When other people came in before we left they asked why he was so good.... Gavin is normally well behaved but not that well behaved. He's still got a cough but is slowly recovering.

Sweet boy slept the whole day.
Crappy air makes for crappy breathing... yuck.
My friend Amy gave us some Breathe dotera oil and it seemed to help quite a bit. It didn't heal him right away but it helped him not get quite as bad as he normally gets... anyway I really think it helped his asthma.

That night we had scouts we had a low key den meeting but did play a little Hey Hey. This is what happened when Chris won. I'm pretty glad it wasn't me ha ha.

Friday we went to the BYU basketball game with Matt and Mallory. Gavin loves all sports and it was a great night. Gavin thinks his Aunt and Uncle are pretty fun.

I think these pictures are hilarious.

We've been keeping busy. Looking forward to Pie night on Sunday and Thanksgiving next week!

Shaving with Daddy
Found a baby pepper in my pepper... and then I made Jambalaya with it mmmm.

Trying on hats at Old Navy. He loves all superheros.
We never remember these pants don't stay on until we go somewhere. We'll be walking and Gavin starts saying "Oh no, Oh No! Oh No! and I look over and his pants are on the ground lol.
Homemade chicken potpie.... proof I make dinner sometimes :)
Raspberry fun.
