Our Almost Busy Weekend

This weekend was pretty good. Friday when I picked Gavin up he had already taken a nap so we ran some errands before we went home.

I left the windows open on our drive back from Grandma's house... which is apparently as fun as going on a ride because he held his hands up like this the whole way.
Our first stop was Michaels... the craft store. Gavin was so sweet. I told him I needed him to be my big helper. Sometimes if he thinks he's being my helper he listens to me and goes where I need him to a little better (I don't know why that is, but if it works.. it works). He insisted on carrying the basket which is almost as big as he is. He was so cute it would hold and almost drag the basket with one hand and reach out to hold my hand with the other. I really hope he wants to be so helpful when he's bigger.

We went home for a minute and watched part of an episode of Sophia the First. I usually record the episodes so Brooklyn can watch them when she comes but for some reason I turned one on and me and Gavin snuggled and watched the show for a minute before it was time to leave to go get Daddy and Brooklyn. I turned the show off and we got in the car and Gavin said "Uh oh.. Sophia". It was so cute he was so worried. I told him it was okay that I had turned it off and he and Brooklyn could watch it later to which he said "Brookin watch Sophia". He says Sophia so well it's pretty funny.

When we got home Brooklyn saw the stuff I hadn't put away from making mobiles with the Scouts earlier in the week and she wanted to make one too. She loves doing crafty things.

Saturday was supposed to be a supper busy day. In the morning we wrote and decorated letters to Aunt Andrea who is on a mission in Montana. Brooklyn went to the Primary program practice and when she got home we got ready and ran an errand or two.

After errands we headed to Baby Claire's birthday party. I can't believe that cutie is already one! This past year has really flown by. The kids had so much fun running around together... and there was pizza and cake and a sherbet drink what more could you need? It was such a fun birthday party.

Grandma and the Birthday Girl!
Gavin was a bike thief... too bad his feet didn't reach the pedals.
Eating pizza and riding bikes at the same time is always a good idea.
Gavin and Baby Claire have almost the same sized hands. Something tells me Gavin is going to be a little guy.

On our way home from the party Brooklyn fell asleep. We had a very very early morning so I wasn't surprised when she fell asleep. She seemed alright when she got up in the morning but as the day went on she started to not feel so good. When we got home we were going to go to a neighborhood Halloween party but Brooklyn really wasn't feeling good and we thought it would be best if we stayed home so she could rest. Brooklyn was so disappointed but it was a good thing we stayed home. She got worse and you could really just tell she didn't feel good.

I'm not quite sure how this is comfortable.
Sunday morning, since Brooklyn was still feeling horrible we didn't make it to the Primary program. We were bummed she missed it but glad we went to her other Primary Program a few weeks ago.... so at least she got to be in one. We had also planned on going to Mimi and Grandpa's house for dinner but decided to postpone to another Sunday.

Our busy weekend ended up not being quite as busy as we had planned. Last night Brooklyn seemed to be feeling a lot better so I think taking it easy and getting some extra rest paid off.

Disneyland 2013 (Part 3 aka The Finale)

Day 3.... the kids were exhausted.

Saturday we planned on getting to the park right when it opened but we were a little late.

Waiting for the shuttle.

Mwah!
Brooklyn wanted to take a picture of Gavin giving me a kiss after I took one of him giving her a kiss.
We probably got there 30 minutes after it opened and it was packed. Saturday was such a busy day it almost reminded me of being there on a major holiday. We split up the day in both parks. We had a great time riding rides and playing around.
On a Jungle Cruise
Peter Pan ride.
Mr. Toads Wild Ride
Chocolate Chocolate Muffin... not sure how that's different from a cupcake... no frosting maybe?
Frozone
Both of the kids loved seeing Aladdin, Jasmine and the Genie.
I felt bad this was the only princess we saw the whole trip.
We took Gavin to see the Iron Man Suits too.
In line for the Astro Blasters.

We stood in line for 45 minutes to see Mickey. Gavin and Brooklyn were both excited and had fun seeing Mickey's house.

With Mickey's Chickens.
She is very proud she can blow bubbles.
Cinderella
Brooklyn likes seeing the characters but is a little more timid with it where Gavin just runs right over to them with open arms. Something tells me we're going to have to start talking about stranger danger lol.
Brooklyn was ready to go when Mickey tried to give her a kiss... Gavin on the other hand wasn't going anywhere.

At dinner we took a break and went to Tortilla Joe's in Downtown Disney with some family that lives nearby. The food was delicious and the company was even better. We loved getting to see family.
This guy made the most amazing Balloon animals.... guns and crossbows haha.
This little mermaid made it all the way home. We tried to prepare Brooklyn for when it popped but I'm still glad I didn't have to be there when it happened.
Monkey on a banana tree.
Monkey didn't survive the trip. Surprise surprise.

After dinner we got to watch some fireworks. After sending Gavin back to the hotel with Mimi and Grandpa we got some shopping done. Brooklyn's mom sent her with some money so she could get her other brother and sister a souvenir.... there are way way way too many things to choose from for a 6 yr old to decide on just one thing. After changing her mind a few times she finally settled on getting the stuffed animals from Doc McStuffins. She got Stuffy for herself, Lamby for Lilly and Chilly for Greyders (as she calls him). We also got Gavin a Sulley since he loves Monsters.

Brooklyn cried a little bit on the way out of the park that we didn't get a souvenir and that she didn't get her mom and step dad anything. She has such a tender heart. She was also sad knowing it was our last day at Disneyland.
On our way back to the hotel for the last time. I sure do love these two.
Sunday morning at 3am we got up, finished packing and headed to the airport. I never had any idea how difficult going through security with two kids can be. We seriously had to put everything we were carrying into at least six different bins to go through the scanner.... we had to take out the nebulizer, the kids tablet, Chris's work laptop, take our shoes off (luckily the kids don't have to take their shoes off if they're under the age of 12)... and a whole bunch of other stuff. Plus we packed the kids backpacks but most of the time we were carrying them and their bags.
I got his Pajama pants and socks on without him waking up. He was so tired.

We finally boarded the plane a little before 6am and we were on our way home. Gavin fell asleep before the plane even took off and slept the whole flight home. I think the rest of us slept for at least part of the flight too.
Mananas and Petzols (aka Bananas and Pretzels)
Brooklyn was cold so Aunt Manda shared her sweatshirt.

We were so glad to get home. What a wonderfully fantasmic, magical trip.
Thank you again to Mimi and Grandpa!!! We are truly blessed.

I think Chris slept the whole day after we got home... and since the heater was off while we were gone our house was 58 degrees when we got home. brrrr
Gavin had himself a tea party after "Brookin" left. He was so sad to see her go.
I just have to add one more picture from the first day that Mimi sent me. While we were riding something with Brooklyn, Mimi and Grandpa took Gavin to the petting zoo in Disneyland. I have no idea how I didn't know there was a petting zoo there.
