Gavin's First Haircut

This year as part of Christmas my parents got my hair done by my favorite hairstylist. I have tried to go to other people and I always end up going back to her because she is the best. Megan works at The Fringe Cut and Academy in Bountiful and we LOVE LOVE LOVE her! We refer to her as "The Miracle Worker".

Anyway... When I made my appointment I decided to make an appointment for Gavin to get a cut too. Chris kept threatening to cut Gavin's hair while I was gone and I decided maybe it was time he had a haircut. It was so hard for me to cut his hair. I really love his curls.

Checking himself out in the mirror.
Snip snip... Mommy almost cried.
I love my new hair.

Gavin looks so cute!

He has still been mistaken for a girl since his hair was cut which is kind of funny. I think Gavin is a pretty boy but I don't dress him like a girl so I don't know why so many people get confused.

Happy Nikolaus Day!

Chris is half (or more) German and he grew up celebrating Nikolaus Day and we have decided to continue the tradition with our kinder. It is so much fun to continue traditions from both of our families and to share with our children some of the German culture that Chris comes from.

Nikolaus Day is December 6th. The night before children leave their shoes outside and Sankt Nikolaus comes and fills them with candy or sometimes small toys.

Muppet Christmas Carol

This is one of our favorite Christmas movies. If you haven't seen it you need to. It's the best!

Loving the Christmas Season

We are loving this Christmas season. Gavin is so much more aware this year... and in to EVERYTHING. We put up the Christmas tree the Sunday after Thanksgiving and have had to have the front room blocked off ever since. Gavin loves all the Christmas decor and Brookie has loved helping us decorate.

Last weekend we had our ward Christmas party.Santa was there and the kids got to sit on his lap and Brooklyn told him what she wanted. She was so nervous she was going to forget the name of what she wants for Christmas she kept asking me what it was called and practiced saying it while we waited in the line. She is such a sweetie pie.

I think the only thing that could make this Christmas season any better would be some snow. There is something about snow that just gets me in the Christmas mood... aaand I'd really love to take the kids sledding.

We Are a Hockey Family.

Chris has turned us into a hockey family. A few weeks ago we got to go to a Grizzlies game with our pass of all passes. We always have so much fun at the Grizzlies games and this game was especially fun because it was Gavin's first game. Gavin usually has a hard time sitting still but he loved the game. He was highly entertained with all of the excitement from all the people and the lights and everything that goes along with hockey games. Plus Mimi and Grandpa came along for extra fun.

The adventure didn't end there. Chris's car broke down about 5 miles away from home. Thankfully his home-teaching companion was able to tow us home. Car troubles are horrible.

I would say car troubles are the worst but I've been reminded this week that there are definitely worse things. I am so grateful for my family and that we have all been relatively healthy this year. As Chris said some things make car troubles and cracked teeth not seem so bad.
