Pink Wine Cake

I made a cake this week. It was my first cake for someone not in my family. I was very nervous but I think it turned out pretty cute. Chelsea's favorite color is pink so I tried to work some pink in. I was super worried it would look like a pink and purple cake... which is kind of is but overall I think it turned out great.

Chris and I also delivered the cake.  Chris drove and I panicked anytime we had to stop or turn or go over a bump. It was scary but we made it to our final destination without anything disastrous happening. I had so much fun making the cake and I'm glad Britney and Chelsea liked how it turned out.

I have one more cake this week so keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well. I am also working on making a separate cake blog but I'm having a hard time coming up with a name that hasn't already been used. Seriously... some of the names I've come up with seem to be pretty original and then I search the name and someone is already using it.

Love Bug Valentine

I can't believe Valentines Day was almost two weeks ago and I still haven't posted about it. We had a fun weekend. It also just so happened to be our weekend with Brooklyn.

In the morning when I left for work I found the sweetest card in my car from my husband and then had some beautiful roses delivered to me while I was at work. I am such a lucky lady.... I'm blessed too but I like the way lucky lady sounds better ha ha.

I made some cute homemade Valentines for the kids and Chris. I made sure we had little bags for them to put some treats in to take to Grandma's.

Grandma and Grandpa Draudt were super nice and watched the kids while we went out to dinner. It was such a nice treat to go out together... and I'm so glad Chris made reservations. The wait time without a reservation was 3 hours! Crazy! Anyway. I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful sweetheart.

I love my Valentines!

Saturday we did heart hair... we celebrated love day all weekend.
We saw the Lego Movie with Mimi and Baka.
My crazy cute kids.
We also made Heart crayons.
And Stained Glass windows.

Just a quick little instruction for the Love Bugs. I had a few people ask how I made them.

Here are the steps...
  1. Make two tissue paper flowers. The more layers of tissue paper the fluffier the flowers will be. Fold like and accordion, tie in the middle with string and then separate the layers.
  2. Hot Glue the bottoms of the Flowers together.
  3. Cut out one large heart and two small hearts out of sparkly foam or paper.
  4. Attach the flower ball to the large heart. Attach the little hears to pipe cleaners.
  5. Glue Googly eyes, pom pom nose and pipe cleaners to the flower ball.
Tada! You've got a Love bug!

Cub Scout Update

I decided it would be a good time to update on our cubs. We just went to the University of Scouting this past weekend. It was mostly awesome. I highly recommend going to training if you are in Scouting. Not only do you get some great ideas but it also gets you super excited for Scouting.

One of our favorite classes was on Neckerchief Slides. We got some great ideas and I think making neckerchief slides or giving some to the boys as rewards will help them to wear their full uniforms to scouts.

These were my favorite neckerchief slides. I really want to make these with the boys.
Another one of our favorite classes was Leather Crafts taught by the owner of Beck Leather. He is such a good teacher We actually took the Wood Crafts class from him at the Pow Wow. He gives such good ideas and is so motivational.

We have been working on the Scientist pin and I really think it's been one of my favorite pins. We did all sorts of experiments and the boys even got to make sugar crystals to eat.

Our pack also had an awesome Blue and Gold Banquet. Our Cub Scout Committee did a great job!

The boys all helped make place mats for Blue and Gold.
Our super cool Webelos Rockband

Who is ready for Love DAY?

Not me!

I have a couple ideas but remember how Gavin did this last year for Mimi and Grandma?
Click here to learn how we made these!

I haven't done anything! And we'll have Brooklyn for Valentines day so I've got to come up with something fun fast!

I was thinking about maybe filing the kids rooms with balloons and Amy suggested filling the balloons with things so the kids would have to pop the balloons to get things out. I thought this was a great suggestion because I really don't like having random balloons around my house for weeks... and then Chris reminded me that the kids don't like the sound of popping balloons.... so that is now scratched off my list.

I have a couple of ideas of little valentines for the kids but I think it's fun when they can give stuff to their Grandmothers but I have no idea what to do. I want to do something easy and fun and something Grandma and Mimi will actually want to keep. Hopefully I'll come up with something but I might not. We'll see.

I'm sure pinterest has some great ideas.

A Bunch of Random Things

I have a bunch of random things I want to blog about but they aren't really enough to each have their own post.

Donna and Roby got married! Chris got sick the day after Christmas and was sick for probably a month... anyway the point being I went to the wedding by myself. It was a beautiful ceremony and a delicious, beautiful luncheon.

Yay!!!

I think this picture is so funny. The sun was so bright it was hard to tell what I was taking a picture of.

They had a sweet ring ceremony and their Bishop gave some great advice.
We had a fun New Years Eve with Matt and Mallory. We have to make sure we spend all the time with them that we can before they leave. I failed on getting pictures.

I got out my sewing machine that I got for Christmas. I was really kind of scared of it because it looks much more complex then my moms but it turned out to be pretty easy to use. I told Chris he must have gotten me a sewing machine for dummies which is exactly what I needed.

I've made a few headbands and I am getting the hang of my sewing machine.
I still haven't made Gavin's cape.
Because of Holidays we missed our weekends with Brooklyn for the whole month of January. We went and visited her and took her to dinner which doesn't usually work out because of our busy schedules but it was nice to see her.

I'm pretty sure everyone thinks their kids have funny faces. I just love this little stinker. He makes me laugh every day.

Fruit snacks are the best.

Gavin loves his Grandpa!
Saturday morning jam session in his underwear.
Holidays with this boy are some of my favorite days. This was on MLK day. He loves when we get him is own big boy drink.
My cousins got tickets for the Lady Antebellum concert but were sick and couldn't go.... so we were able to get their tickets and go. It was such a fun concert! Chris isn't really a country fan and he really enjoyed the concert... which is saying a lot.

We took Brooklyn out on her Birthday for sushi. Brooklyn is such a picky eater but loves sushi and tomatoes which I think is so strange. I don't think I know another seven year old that will eat what she will.... and she hates macaroni and cheese.... weird.

And just one last picture...

We're potty training so whenever we're at home Gavin just wears his underwear. He loves wearing everyone's shoes and I think girl shoes are his favorite because they're bright colors. Gavin insisted on wearing Brooklyn's cowgirl boots and her bear backpack. Like I said before he is so funny!

Christmas Recap

I really don't like that it's so long after Christmas and I'm just now posting about it. I feel like I forget things all too quickly. But... better late then never right?!

My work Christmas party was lots of fun and I made these super cute costumes for Chris and I to wear.

I love this picture!

We had an awesome ward Christmas party. It was a Polar Express party and Santa came to visit. Santa was so sweet with the kids.

The weekend before Christmas was spent at Mimi and Grandpa's house. The kids love going to Mimi and Grandpa's. I thought I took more pictures then I did.

At Church in their Christmas outfits from Grandma Draudt
Brooklyn helped Grandma make fudge. Yum.

Christmas was wonderful. We had Brooklyn for the first half of Christmas break. It is so fun to have her on Christmas eve and Christmas day. Christmas Eve was spent at the Draudt's house eating German food and then we came home put together some cookies for Santa and read the Christmas story.

Santa really really likes sprinkles.

Everyone opened their Christmas jammies.

My phone has started making these awesome (haha) lines on a lot of my pictures.

Santa came! Before Christmas whenever we asked Gavin what Santa was going to bring Gavin would tell us he was going to bring chocolate and he did not disappoint.

Brooklyn's favorite Christmas gift.

The rest of the day was spent visiting family and we even got to skype with Sister Andrea Draudt!

Christmas was wonderful and a little too short. I'm sure Christmas will be here again before we know it!
