A Little of This and That

I was so nervous for cub scouts. I obviously am not a boy and I didn't have any brothers so I have never really had any connection with the scout program. I do have a little boy now and I'm so excited that we get the learn the program so when Gavin gets there we'll know what we're doing. Much of yesterday was spent in preparation for scouts.

I was a little bummed I wouldn't be able to go to the Relief Society activity. While we were having our den meeting we heard a noise at the door and thought it was a scout coming late. When Chris opened the door this is what we found...
How sweet is that?! It really made me feel loved knowing that they even noticed I wasn't at the activity. I hope they had fun with their activity even though I wasn't there ;)

There is really so much I am learning about scouts. I didn't understand what they needed for the flag ceremony and almost spent $20 on a giant flag at Target. Thankfully I didn't and Chris got some smaller/medium size flags at Walmart that were much, much cheaper. We are still hunting for a uniform for Chris. We want to set a good example for our Scouts by wearing the uniform just like we expect them to.

When we were done with den meeting Gavin insisted we go for a walk. It was actually quite a nice temperature outside after the sun went down. We walked around the neighborhood and ended up at the park. Yesterday was the first time we let Gavin go up the steps and down the slide all by himself and I was glad he didn't fall off the playground. Sometimes that boy has no fear which isn't always a good thing.
Can someone please explain to me how these "merry go rounds" are safe?... anymore safe then the ones they had when we were kids? I don't get these things.

Can't you just hear him saying "Cheese"?
Daddy and Gavin also watered the lawn a little extra last night. Gavin loves water.

I couldn't drag myself out of bed this morning. I'll have to run tonight. One of my favorite exercise shirts has disappeared. It seriously has vanished into thin air. I have looked everywhere several times. Such a bummer.

4 Year Anniversary! Juneathon and Scouting

Today is our four year anniversary. I feel awful. I totally forgot this morning until I received a sweet text from my handsome man wishing me a happy anniversary. I think part of it has to do with the fact that I know we're celebrating our anniversary this weekend instead of today and part of it has to do with the fact that we have our very fist den meeting today (insert scared face).

Four years ago I married my best friend. I love Chris so much and I am so blessed to get to spend the rest of forever with him. He is such a good Dad and takes such good care of me and the kids. We're not perfect but I think we do pretty good as a team. Love you Honey Buns. (I may or may not have gotten emotional looking though our wedding pictures today.)

Also just a reminder that these pictures were taken by Ken Hoglund who did an amazing job if you need a photographer you should definitely contact him. I love our pictures and will treasure them always.

We look so young!

Yesterday we spent an hour or so with the old Webelos leaders. I feel a little bit like I'm in over my head. Luckily we know so many people who know so much about scouts are and more then willing to help us along. I really don't think I know anyone that has been involved in scouts that doesn't love it. It really sounds like we've hit the jackpot with this new calling. :) We also spent time going around to all the homes of our scouts to introduce ourselves and to let the boys know when and where we'll be meeting. I also completed the Scout Safety training (Chris did his Monday), we found what looks like a brand new cub scout shirt for me at DI, picked up some books at the scouting office... basically our whole day was all about scouting. And then when we were done with everything I was talking to my mom about it all on the phone and figuring out how we are supposed to do things and we still need to get a flag... there is so much to learn! I also had dreams about den meeting and the flag ceremony... I am glad we have boys that have been in cubs for a while and will hopefully be able to help us a little.

I did not want to get up this morning... but I did. I got my running in. 3 miles. I almost forgot to re-sync my nike+ last night so just before bedtime I went for a run around the block. I think it's funny whenever I re-sync my nike+ I get an "award" that says I was active twice in one day... yes I was active twice in one day who cares that the second time it was for less than a minute lol.
Synced my nike+ last night ha ha
Pretty good run :)
Uh uh uh.. I work out!

Picnic in the Park and Juneathon

It's Lehi Roundup time. Last night was the Picnic in the Park and Lehi Idol. We had lots of fun running around, playing with the balloon, watching all the kids and listening to the great music.

My run yesterday was short. I only ran a mile but I tried to push it a little faster then I normally go. It was a nice quick run.

This morning I went for a 3.5 run with (my guess is) around a 10' pace. I don't know for sure because my nike+ stopped working again. I think it's getting ready to go out for good with how much more frequently this has been happening. blah! Other then that my run was good.

I have been running on a treadmill more lately. I got a free two week trial to a gym by my house. I really like how close it is and that it really hasn't been overly busy any time I've gone. I don't however care for how small it is. Or the fact that it costs just as much as a bigger gym but doesn't have classes or some other things you would find at a bigger gym or the local rec center. I still wish they would build a Planet Fitness by my house... you can't beat ten dollars a month.

Cub Scouts Here We Come!

Sunday Morning we met with a member of the Bishopric. I knew we would be getting a new calling but I had already figured out it would be a calling in the nursery. I had been asking Chris if he was ready for a calling in the nursery ever since we found out the ward was splitting so I was extremely surprised when we were not called to be in the nursery. We have been called to be in the Cub Scouts!

I honestly know nothing about scouts but my mom has been in Cub Scouts for a few years and is beyond excited for us to be in the cub scouts too. We definitely have a lot to learn. I know we'll have lots of fun and I'm sure Mr. Gavin will have lots of fun with the big boys too.

Lets back up a little bit.....

Friday was the first day I ran all week. It's kind of a bummer getting sick in the middle of a month you're trying to run every day (ish because I don't run Sunday) I kind of surprised myself and I wasn't as slow as i thought I would be after taking the whole week off and being sick.  I haven't uploaded my runs on nike+ yet so I don't have the exact times or distance. I went about 3.25 miles with a pace of around 9'33"... like I said I'm not positive.

Saturday was a little slower. Somehow that first day back at running is easier then the second.... and my legs were sore by the time I went. I went around 3.25 miles again but with a pace of just below 10'.

Saturday morning we slept in and then we worked in the yard for a while. We don't have a flowerbed area in our front yard so we spent a while digging out grass so that we can have a flowerbed. Gavin started to get tired and crabby and then the spiders started to show themselves so we decided to continue working on it another day. Those dang spiders were ginormous! bleck I should have taken a picture. Anyway, after working in the yard is when I went for my little run. (just now realizing the reason my back is sore is probably from working in the yard ha ha)

Gavin had nap time and then we went to the movies and saw Monsters University. It was a very cute show and Gavin is getting better at sitting still for movies. We made it through a little more than an hour before he needed to move around. I was actually pretty impressed with how well he did.

We returned some binoculars for Mimi and Grandpa and did some browsing at Nordstrom Rack. I actually found a really good deal on some running capris that have a drawstring around the inside that will hopefully help keep them up while I run... losing my pants is a major issue when I run.
Trying on a blazer at Nordstrom Rack
Outside of Nordstrom was this statue. Chris told me I should see if I could get Gavin to sit by it. Gavin loved it and was touching it and hugging it. It was hilarious. I think it was extra funny because if it had been Brooklyn she wouldn't have gotten within ten feet of the statue.

We ended Saturday with some grocery shopping. Gavin is so funny sometimes. He gave the girl that checked us out the biggest smiles.
Dirty Chocolate Binky Face.

Sunday Gavin went to Nursery again. I think he cried off and on for the whole two hours. I felt so bad. Hopefully next week will go better.

City Creek

Thursday after work Mimi, Gavin and I headed up to Salt Lake to meet up with Becky and the girls. (I feel bad I didn't get any pictures with them :( Fail)

We met the girls at Sephora... don't you just love that store? I love looking around at all the fun makeup. My Sister Amanda used to work at Sephora and she gave me a ton of stuff so it's not like I really need anything. (Not that I don't still want stuff... who could ever have too much makeup right? )

While Miss Rebecca and Mimi talked the rest of us browsed the stores. Gavin got so excited when he saw the water so I knew we would have to go back before we left. We looked at Anthropology at all their clothes and super cute home decor that is way out of my price range lol.

After we got done window shopping everyone headed over to The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory which just so happened to be right next to the splash pad. Gavin didn't want to go in by himself at first. He had so much fun and loves the water. He was so upset when we had to leave. He also had lots of fun watching the little birds.

Water!

I seriously don't know what I did without this sunshine in my life. I love him so much.

In the way of Juneathon... it has not been a good week. I have been sick off and on all week and mornings have been particularly bad (and no it's not morning sickness). I'm planning on running after work today and will run again tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be a slow couple of days getting back into things. I know it will feel good once it's done though.

Tri Polar Bear at Velour

Wednesday Chris's band Tri Polar Bear performed with Sarah Degraw and No Sleep at Velour in Provo. It was a great show and they had a pretty good turnout. They even got to sign a bunch of stickers for people. Those people will be glad they have those stickers when Tri Polar Bear becomes famous :)

I hadn't been to Velour before and it is a fun/interesting/unique venue. The people working were all really nice and I though the girl running the sound did an excellent job. They also have so many interesting pieces of art it seemed very... eclectic. Like I said it was a great venue and hopefully the guys will get to play there again. (The air conditioning was also a big plus.) The guys were also super excited that their friends from the band Sugar Glyder were able to come watch them perform.. even though they were unable to play together this trip. Chris from Sugar Glyder even helped the guys set everything up... super nice.

Please excuse my poor photography skills... I really need to learn how to use our new(ish) camera.
